Twin Serpent Guardian Spirit – Wall Relief

Deep in the unexplored depths of the South American Peruvian jungles, a great lost city, now known as the City of the Twin Serpents, was discovered in 1936 by British archaeologist and explorer, Dr. James H. Hemlock. It was the home of an advanced civilization previously unknown to western man, sharing many characteristics of ancient Mayan culture, though isolated for generations. Many artifacts were retrieved, catalogued and studied, and thought to be cursed by the so-called Twin Serpent Guardian Spirit. How the civilization came to an end is a mystery as no burial remains were found in the vicinity.

The expedition was cut short with the unexplained deaths of the excavators. All involved in the removal of artifacts were found dead in their tents, their veins swollen with snake venom, though no bite marks were ever found anywhere on their bodies. The sudden disappearance of Dr. Hemlock later that year further perpetuated the legend. Nearing the end of the expedition, a massive earthquake suddenly erupted and a great chasm opened across the central courtyard, slowly devouring the entire city, burying it deep forever beneath the earth. Only five of a crew of thirty escaped with their lives. The Peruvian government later proclaimed the entire area forbidden.

This artifact is one of only a few that were retrieved from the lost city. It is a stone carving retrieved from the massive slab that blocked the entrance to the city's sacrificial chamber. The Twin Serpent guardian spirit is personified on the carving as a disembodied face with owl-like eyes clutching two serpents in his enormous fists. Above his head, the image of death. According to Dr. Hemlock's documents, this chamber was used by two temple priests, who performed ritual sacrifices to the guardian spirit. The victims were dropped into a pit infested with thousands of venomous snakes. It was the natives' belief that this would give them another season of good harvest.

Landron Artifacts is proud to present this astounding piece. For reasons unknown to us, the curator of the J. H. Hemlock Museum of Antiquities was all too eager to be rid of this and other artifacts relating to the City of the Twin Serpents expedition. No explanation was given and they still won't return our phone calls. However, we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be given this rare opportunity and can assure you with complete confidence that these artifacts are NOT cursed.

Production Update (3-25-2014)

Incase anyone thinks I've been slacking off...

Seen above are two stacks of Idol Artifact Pedestals. The four on the left have been base-coated and ready to paint. The three on the right need final cleanup to be sealed and primed. As a side note, as of this writing, FIVE of these pedestals have already been claimed through a waiting list. If you want first dibs on a pedestal, or any item you see here, please feel free to contact me and I'll place your name down for one before they are officially back in stock to the general public. Many of my stuff will show as "sold out" for quite a long time, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't order one. I place things "in stock" and ready-to-order on landronartifacts.com if I have a handful of them that have not been claimed ahead of time. So, as I've mentioned before, the quickest, surest way to get a hold of any "sold out" item is to contact me.

Here are base-coated castings of the "Tongue" and "Fangs" small wall reliefs, part of the City of the Twin Serpents (COTS) artifact series.

....But is that all?

Heeeeeck no! Top right are five Siva Linga stone castings almost ready for sealing and priming.

Six more Siva Linga stones, base-coated and all snug in their bunks, ready for final painting. Two more are on a shelf.

Didn't think I forgot about these guys did ya? Here are eight "Faces" tea-light holders, also part of the COTS artifact series. These are fresh out of the mold. And yes, those three objects hiding on the far right are three more Siva Linga stone castings fresh out of the mold.

And lastly, these two "Twin Serpent Guardian Spirit" wall reliefs are also ready for final painting.

Wheww! Time for a drink...

New Wall Relief in the Works!

Here's a sneak peek at the next sculpt from the "City of the Twin Serpents" series of artifacts... tentatively called "Hands" (although it might become its official designation in the end). It'll be similar in size to the previous "Fangs" design.

Stay tuned!

Production Update 3-8-2014

Just a heads up on what's going on right now.

I've been busy fulfilling waiting lists on certain items so that's the main reason it's been taking so long for them to be back in stock... they get first dibs. All have been shipped. So if you've been waiting on something to be back in stock, my recommendation is please contact me and I'll add your name to the list and your item will be at the front of the line, weeks if not months before I have enough inventory to put them back in stock and available to order for the general public.

But, as a general product availability update for today I currently have 2 left-over Siva Linga Stone replicas up for grabs and available to order (all others have been claimed... which is why it's a good idea to ask to be placed on a waiting list... you get the item first).

I also still have 3 of City of the Twin Serpents "Tongue"Small Wall Reliefs (pictured left) available to order, and 1 featuring the "Fangs" design (pictured right).

And now for the production update...

I'm now casting like crazy to get everything back in stock so I'm multitasking.

Here's a yet-to-be demolded Siva Linga Stone replica.

These are the "Fangs" and "Tongue" small wall reliefs just poured into their molds. They are ready to be demolded as I type this, freeing up the molds to make more.

More Idol Artifact Pedestals are also being cast as I type this. I had a small batch made but they've all been claimed so if you want one, please feel free to contact me and ask to be placed on a waiting list so you get first dibs on the next batch. I'm planning on making the next batch as big as possible.

That's it for now. Well, better get back to the workbench...
