It's That Time Again!

The mold for the Cthulhu small wall relief is curing as I type this, as well as the mold for the "Palms" design, part of the City of the Twin Serpents series of artifacts.

The white squares are pieces of foam-core board with dome-shaped plastic cabochons glued on face down into the silicone molds. These will leave an imprint in the cured molds that will anchor the plaster reinforcement base that will be later poured in once the foam squares are removed.

Stay tuned for the first pulls!

Second Cthulhu-Themed Wall Relief Sculpt in the Works

And why not? He's a cool looking beast and a lot of fun to design and sculpt. This one will be approximately 5 inches tall, and like my other wall sculptures the final product will feature a wire loop on the back for easy wall hanging.

For a little while I was thinking about designing a custom display stand that will suit to display all my small wall reliefs for those who don't wish to hang them on the wall, but rather display them on a shelf. What do you think?

Cthulhu Calls!!!

I'll be producing a series of artifacts based on perhaps H.P. Lovecraft's most famous literary creation, the mythical Cthulhu. Some time ago I toyed with the idea of making a bust. That's still a possibility but I think it'll be best to start small, and work my way up to more substantial pieces, providing there's enough interest.

First up, is this tea-light holder:

The final piece will measure approximately 4-5 inches in diameter and feature a faux bronze finish with green patina.

Next up is a small wall relief. The design is meant to look like a fragment of a ruin of an ancient lost city. The master sculpt is nearly finished!

The finished piece will measure about 4 1/2" tall and will feature a sturdy wire loop in the back for easy wall hanging.

Stay tuned!

Siva Linga Stone — Production Update

And now for a long-overdue update…

Wow it really has been too long for me to get another batch back in stock but finally here they are in their basecoats. Time and energy have been in short supply lately but for those who've been so patiently on the waiting list to order these, trust me, they'll be coming back soon. The four seen above will be the first out the door, but there are a small number of other castings standing by for cleanup. The mold for this item is on its last legs so a new an improved mold will need to be made for future batches, but for that I'm waiting until I complete this long-neglected piece:

Not a whole lot left to finish it ("Palms" small wall relief) but I'm holding off on getting more silicone for the molds until I have more than just one thing to make a mold of. Uncured liquid silicone has a lifespan once the container is opened and it gets pretty lousy if stored for a while so it's best to get as much of it used up at once and not have to store much leftover. This saves tons of money too as silicone is not cheap.

Stay tuned!

FOR SALE: Rare Icons 16" Nautilus Model from Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

I just placed a listing up on the EvilBay for an extremely rare 16-inch replica of the Nautilus from Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Icons, the pioneer of providing highly-accurate movie prop replicas to collectors. Sadly, while these were being produced, Icons was nearing the end of their business run due to financial difficulties. Because of this, this particular item never quite made it into full production, making it exceedingly rare. Reportedly no more than 200 pieces were ever produced before the company closed its doors forever (though countless copies have been sold over the years).

The example you see here was actually originally one of only a handful of actual raw unfinished hulls made during its very short production. Due to their age, these hulls were originally in rough shape, missing pieces and chipped in areas. I had the personal pleasure of acquiring one of these and painstakingly restoring it and finishing it to what the final product would have looked like using reference photos of a final production model. Nearly all spare missing parts were either acquired direct from Scott Brodeen (the original prop maker responsible for designing this collectible), or accurately fabricated from scratch.

More info and images in the listing HERE.

Production Update

Time and energy has been in short supply lately which is why there hasn't been any updates lately. However, besides fulfilling waiting list orders, there are a few pieces I have been working on to replenish, namely the Twin Serpent Guardian Spirit wall relief, and a couple of Idol Artifact Pedestals (the last remaining two of the last batch).

As of this writing there are currently 2 of the wall reliefs ready to ship, and the above 2 pedestals you see in the pics.

Production Update

This weekend I've been busy on fulfilling a few requests for Medallion Display stands. All but one in Aztec grey color style have been claimed.

Five more Idol Artifact Pedestals are also getting prepped so they will be available to order again soon (one has already been claimed via waiting list). Here are the last remaining castings from the latest batch.

There are also a good number of the "Faces" Tea Light Holders waiting to be painted.

There are currently just a couple left from the previous batch ready to ship so if you want one, order soon if you don't want to wait for this batch to be completed.

And finally, a bunch of City of the Twin Serpents small Wall Reliefs have received their base coats and are ready for final paint.

As of this writing, from the previous batch there is only one of the "Fangs" design, and two of the "Tongue" design left ready to ship so again, if you don't want to wait for the next batch, order soon before they are gone.

Ta-ta for now!

"Cthulhu" Bust Concept Art

Here's the full concept design in profile view for the first piece in a possible H.P. Lovecraft's "Cthulhu" line. This would take form as a miniature bust presumably measuring 7-8 inches tall. I'm thinking of two versions: a standard version with a patina bronze finish...

... and a deluxe version, intricately rendered in full color...

The creature's head would be depicted with fine detail, with his face "feelers" draped and wrapped around an ancient stone column.

As stated before, this is merely an early design concept and not a promise of a line of Cthulhu-themed pieces. If there's enough interest, it will more likely happen so please feel free to let me know if this would be something that would spark your interest.

Cthulhu is Calling... Possible Future Product Line?

It's been long on my mind to create some pieces based on the Cthulhu creature from H.P. Lovecraft's short story, The Call of Cthulhu. Depending on the amount of interest I may pursue this as a product series. While I can't give any definite details on what's coming at this early genesis stage, I do have one mystery product in mind to kick it off and have been creating conceptual sketches for it. Here's a sneak peak...

Again, it's far to early to say this is definitely moving forward as it all depends on the amount of interest. So if you want to see more, or wish to express definite interest in a Cthulhu line, please feel free to send me an email

To be continued...

Product Availability Update 4/28/2014

Here's a quick update on product availability. Firstly, I'd need to point out that I've been busy fulfilling requests placed on waiting lists, so those get first dibs on anything I'm working on. Any leftovers end up on the Landron Artifacts main site for purchase. So once again, due to many requests for reservations for items (which generally meet or exceed the current production size), items on the site seem to be almost always sold out more often than not, but that doesn't mean you can get the item. It may just mean they are being requested and purchased before they are officially "back in stock," which is why it's a good idea to request to be placed on a waiting list rather than wait, and wait, and wait for your desired item to be not "sold out".

That said, as you may have noticed on the past few posts, it's been full steam ahead with the "Faces" Tea Light Holders (most of which, as of this writing, have been claimed, with more to be available again soon).

The same goes with the Idol Artifact Pedestals which have been frequently requested. Of the last fairly large batch, all except two have been sold or on reserve via waiting list, so if you hurry, you can claim one of those last two before they're gone until the next batch.

There are still just a couple of the "Tongue" small wall reliefs (seen above) in stock and ready-to-ship.

As of this writing only one "Fangs" small wall relief (seen above) is in stock and ready-to-ship.

A sizable batch is replacing those as soon as the more sought-after items are completed.
